  • Feminism, including activist feminism and how it can be brought into your ceramic practice,
  • Feminsm and visual art/craft
  • freedom of expression and art’s relationship with Democracy.
  • Gender theory or Gender critical? What does it all mean anyway? And what, if any, is its connection with feminism?
  • Art and Activism, how to bring get your political or social activism working together with your art.

I have been making pots and imagery that deal with men’s violence towards women and girls since 1985 and have considerable expertise in this area. I completed a practice based PhD in 2007 which involved making five, giant sized pots, and a number of smaller ones, responding to women’s accounts of surviving sexual violence.

I co-authored The Pot Book, (Phaidon, 2011,) with Edmund de Waal and published ‘Subversive Ceramics,‘ (Bloomsbury, 2016,) as well as writing numerous articles for Ceramic Review and various academic publications.

I can advise and direct in your research and study in any of these areas.
