This is based on the traditional Pilgrim Flask form, associated with Italian Maiolica of the Renaissance period. The image on one side illustrates the ballad of a novice nun, who, having completed her nun-training, (novitiate,) went on a pilgrimage to give thanks and had a Damascene conversion on the road. The text for the ballad is on the other side
Handbuilt (slab method,) earthstone/earthenware, slip, sgraffito and underglaze painting, clear glaze and gold lustre.
