The World Service, inspired by the once in a lifetime flowering of the Century Plant, in the Botanic Gardens in Oxford, was made in 1996. It was first exhibited at The Manor House, Ilkley before going on to The Platfrom Gallery, Clitheroe; Ryton Gardens, Coventry; Primavera, Cambridge; Huddersfield Art Gallery; Museum of Oxford; Museum of Garden History, London; Geffrye Museum, London.

The giant sized tea service, comprising seven plates with cups and saucers, two tea pots, two milk jugs and a sugar bowl, are a response to the history of the Botanic Gardens in Oxford and to its collection. Each place setting refers to a particular group of plants and the story of its inclusion in the collection.
